Week Six Discussion
This week we look at the NetGeners as consumers. They can be a demanding group! They don't enjoy being manipulated or deceived by marketers. They will report what they know, and share information among themselves and they have purchasing power to spare! Most interesting might be the NetGen's expectations that they will participate in feedback loops and be co-creators with manufacturers and providers of services. Facebook has experienced a great deal of success as it listens to its audience. With every change that occurs on Facebook, one will see a movement to let Facebook know that many people really don't enjoy change; however, overall Facebook isn't experiencing any decline in numbers, therefore, the changes must be more positive than not.
As we move through this chapter, think about the unifying themes that link the research that we have read to this point. What are the overall values of the Net Generation that you see demonstrated in these narratives? What do these values mean to our classrooms? Share a lesson which you believe would be beneficial to the Net Generation as consumers. Obviously, you need not create this lesson. Please locate it online, outline it a bit, and link it within your initial posting. Be sure to include this lesson in your online learning repository.
Participation hint: Post your initial response to the reading prior to Tuesday morning. Participate in the Reading Discussion on three days during the week. Build on the responses of others by sharing new resources, asking questions, and sharing personal experiences. The initial response should contain 3-5 resources, and should utilize proper APA citation.
The Weekly Discussion is assessed with the Participation Checklist:
