Project Overview and Tutorials
In Week Eight, you will conduct a professional development session to assist us in learning about one of the concerns or technologies included in the 2014 NMC Horizon Project Topics (included above). The description of this project (from the syllabus) is included below.
Candidates will create an online module using a tool such as CourseSites
The Rubric for this project is included in the syllabus.
As a part of this project, you should create a needs assessment to determine what your audience (our class) already knows about the technologies/concerns that you will target. The draft of your needs assessment is due in Week One, with your concept of the module you'd like to create. You will also wish to know what personal goals your audience may wish to meet through learning about this technology/concern. I will give feedback on the draft needs assessment in Week One, and the analysis of the needs assessment will be submitted to me at the end of Week Two. The analysis needs assessment should be turned in using Dropbox by Week Two of the course.
You will then create a UbD plan to deliver your unit of instruction. The unit should take one week to deliver, and should be interactive and allow users to collaborate and participate in an active way.
Finally, you will build the unit of instruction using CourseSites (tutorials are forthcoming) and you will facilitate it in Week Eight. You will need an assessment of how well your colleagues mastered the information you targeted, and you will also need a satisfaction survey for the module, and for your facilitation of it.
You will reflect on this entire process in the self-study which is due at the end of this course. I encourage you to journal weekly. This will assist with the self-study :-).
A tutorial to assist you in using Survey Monkey to deliver the Needs Assessment is found below
